In promotion of his fist holiday album, A Legacy Christmas, Adam Blackstone performed “Lil Drummer Boy” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

With the help of rising R&B star, Kenyon Dixon, his eight-year-old son, Adam Blackstone Jr. and Justin Wilson II, the group delivered a soulful performance.

The award-winning musical director and his little drummer boys introduced the performance with a minute long instrumental. Then, while walking towards the stage from the audience, Dixon layered on his vocals with the background singers adding on.

On the album, Blackstone enlisted BJ The Chicago Kid on “Lil Drummer Boy,” but Dixon substituted for him on the show’s performance with his own flavor.

The 10-track album features a mix of standard classics (“Joy To The World” featuring Lena Byrd-Miles) along with original songs (“Brother J (Holiday)” featuring DJ Jazzy Jeff and Kaidi Tatham). Blackstone tapped Keke Palmer for lead single “Christmas Kisses,”which showcases Keke Palmer’s plot to make out with Santa.

Blackstone, a two-time Grammy nominee, recently concluded his promotional holiday run at Blue Note Jazz Club.
