In a performance for the ages, Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson made WNBA history Sunday. She became the first player in league history to post a 30-point, 20-rebound game—delivering 32 points and tying a career-high with 20 boards.
A Night That Made History
From the first tip-off, Wilson dominated. Her scoring and rebounding led the Aces to a comeback victory over the Connecticut Sun, 94–86.
“It’s huge,” Wilson said after the game. “I didn’t even know, as many greats as we have in this league, it’s kind of a shocker that it’s just now happening. It’s a blessing. I love what I do.”
She added, “I love what I do. I love it so much, so anytime that I can come out and just play basketball the way that I love it, and the team, and we’re all getting involved—I’m happy with that.”
“Just A’ja Being A’ja”
Aces coach Becky Hammon described the feat simply: “It’s just A’ja being A’ja.” She noted that Wilson “probably could have had one of these in the past,” but they had emphasized limiting her offensive rebounding earlier this season.
This mark earned Wilson her 14th double-double of the season and her third in the last four games. It also marked her sixth game this season with 30-plus points and 15-plus rebounds, tying her with Tina Charles for that league record.
On top of that, the performance tied Wilson with Breanna Stewart for third-most 30-point games in WNBA history, as she earned her 30th such outing.
Jackie Young supported Wilson with 21 points and six assists, while Jewell Loyd (12 points) and Dana Evans (10 points) contributed off the bench.
With the win, Las Vegas extended its winning streak to four games and improved to an 18–14 record. The team now prepares to host the defending champion New York Liberty on Aug. 13.
