The French Prince of Bel-Air star, Alfonso Riberio, is not going to just dance for you if you ask him!
Alfonso has had enough of people asking him to his famous “Carlton Banks” dance. He recently appeared as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live and admitted that he had turned people down when they asked him to do the dance from the show.
The dance is usually set to the classic Tom Jones’ “It’s Not Unusual,” but Alfonso isn’t crazy on the idea of “performing for others.” Jimmy Kimmel asked Alfonso if he wanted to “kill people” who asked him to dance, Alfonso answered, “I won’t say kill, but I don’t have a love for it like they do. I mean I typically get asked to do the dance pretty much every day of my life if I go outside. If I go anywhere, I just randomly hear people [say], ‘Do the dance.’” He went on to say, “I’m a Black guy that’s not dancing for you. That’s not gonna happen.”
Alfonso also said he doesn’t understand how people have the courage to ask him to dance in public. He said it was “weird” for him. He said, “The weird part for me is trying to understand what’s happening in their head, right? Like, what makes you think that you just gonna ask a random person to dance for you, and they’re gonna be like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve been waiting for you to ask! Hold on a second, let me get into character.’ It’s not. I don’t get it. It’s not gonna happen.” Take a look:
Alfonso portrayed Carlton for all six seasons of the show. Alfonso is also the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos. Ironically, he won Season 19 of Dancing with the Stars, proving he has more moves than his signature dance.
Alfonso is a father to four beautiful children: Sienna, Alfonso Jr., Anders and Ava. He shares his eldest daughter, Sienna, with his ex-wife, Robin Stapler, and his three younger kids with his spouse Angela Unkrich. Take a look at a beautiful family photo:
