Alicia Keys has always been one to support those in need and use her influence for good. This time around she using her influence to uplift one young boy who has involved in a tragic incident only a few weeks ago.
According to TMZ, Alicia Keys has invited Ralph Yarl to come to her show in Kansas City. He was also invited to meet her as well. The attorney for the teen says that the singer reached out personally.
This all comes as the Yarl family has announced a GoFundMe campaign that will be used as a trust fund for the teen. The account has garnered over $3.4 million already with donations from celebrities like Lil Rel Howery and Julianne Hugh even Madonna’s talent manager donated $5k.
Yarl’s family has also been reached out to by several other figures. Roc Nation has reached out, offering their services and letting them know that the company wants to help out in any way possible. Additionally, Shaun King helped the Yarl family find someone to map out the financial assistance.
Cleo Yarl, Ralph’s mother, also received support from Ahmaud Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones. She is also represented by the same attorney, Lee Merritt.
Updates in Yarl’s Shooting
As WBLS has reported, Ralph Yarl was shot on April 13th while attempting to pick up his siblings. He accidentally went to the wrong address and rang the doorbell. When the white homeowner opened the door, Yarl was shot in the head and the arm.
The homeowner, Andrew Lester, was charged with assault and armed criminal action in the first degree. Lester’s family members spoke out against him. One claimed that his grandfather held racist beliefs and attributed to a 24-hour news cycle of “fear and paranoia.” His wife has even come out to say that he has had a history of aggression in their marriage.
