Aretha Franklin was ill for years, but according to TMZ, the late singer never made a will.
Files notate that Franklin died intestate, meaning she had no will at the time of her death.
The soulstress had four sons; thus, according to Michigan law, her estate will be equally divided among them as they are her surviving children.
Hollywood’s go-to site for celebrity worth, celebritynetworth.com, states Franklin’s net worth is an estimated $80 million.
Services will be held for the Queen of Soul over several days next week – beginning with an open casket memorial at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Franklin’s beloved Detroit. A private funeral service for family and friends will be held at the Greater Grace Temple on August 31.
Aretha helped define the American experience. In her voice, we could feel our history, all of it and in every shade—our power and our pain, our darkness and our light, our quest for redemption and our hard-won respect. May the Queen of Soul rest in eternal peace. pic.twitter.com/bfASqKlLc5
