Ashanti’s mother, Tina Douglas, is setting the record straight about Ashanti’s rumored pregnancy.
While sitting on a panel, the host gave her congratulations to the singer and her mother for the new bundle of joy. “Congratulations, Ashanti’s having a baby. So congratulations, grandma,” the host said.
However, Douglas would respond and say, “There’s been no announcement. It hasn’t come out yet until I hear it from Ashanti and Nelly.” The host added, “Oh, I thought it was public. My bad, sorry.” Douglas replied, “No, it is public. Don’t get it twisted, but it hasn’t been officially announced.”
Last December rumors of Ashanti being pregnant began to circulate after she and Nelly seemingly hinted at it during a performance at the rapper’s St. Louis Black and White Ball. These rumors come after the couple rekindled their relationship last year.
They first dated for several years on and off from the early 2000s to 2013. They have not confirmed any of the pregnancy rumors.
