R&B singer August Alsina and rising artist Zu have publicly confirmed their romantic relationship and denied online allegations of grooming. The couple broke their silence following social media speculation about their age difference and timeline.

On September 1, Zu took to social media to clear the air. He wrote, “This my first and only time addressing this, I don’t give a f**k about any external validation whatsoever. I don’t need anyone’s likeness, But I’m a grown a** man, with his own mind and free will … if I ever do anything it’s because I want to do it.” He added, “I met August when I was already of age, an adult. Aug didn’t even know me when I was 16 or 17…not sure where that came from…yea there’s a slight age difference but y’all pick and chooses who to judge when it comes to that.”

Zu emphasized their long history and future plans. He wrote, “We will have known each other for 5 years toward the end of the year, so he’s speaking in future terms because that’s where we plan to make it.” He followed with, “August is my boyfriend, and we’re happy with each other, simple…But I can see how being quiet … can allow some people to spin the narrative … which aren’t true.”

August Alsina Speaks Out

Shortly after, August reposted Zu’s message on Instagram and added: “My bul be chillin, all mysterious [and] s**t. But I loveeee when the Yung God speaks!!”

On X, he fired back at critics: “The level of delusion and narcissism yall live in is psychotic! … Let alone, MINE!” He continued, “Guilty? This word implies you thought yall held some sort of court or dominion over two grown ass people to be judged … Heal & pay ya rent family!”

Alsina also addressed the age confusion more personally. He noted that Zu had fibbed about his age when they first met. “Granted, he was over 18 … but the fact still remains. & I found out later, upon meeting the family.”
