Barack Obama accidentally photobombs a family photoshoot in Washington, D.C.

Portia Moore and her family were doing a photoshoot under D.C.’s cherry blossoms when the former president inadvertently walked into the frame, while her daughter, Belle, and son, Preston, were posing for the photo. “It was perfect,” Moore said. She also said that she was keeping an eye on her son. “Of course, I’m paying attention to my son, making sure he doesn’t run into the water. He’s 20 months old,” she said to news reporters.

Moore said it was her husband who noticed someone in the background. “My husband’s like, ‘That’s Obama!’ I didn’t know what he was saying. I was like, ‘Yeah, whatever. I’m looking at Preston right now,” she said. The realization of what her husband was saying hit her while she was picking up her son.

“I was like, ‘Well, did we get a picture?!’ We went to the photographer and she scrolled back and we’re like, ‘We got it!’”

Briana Inell, the photographer, said it is a moment that she will never forget. “Usually, I’m editing all of the tourists out of the backgrounds for all my clients anyway, but this is the one photo that I won’t be editing out this person,” she said.

Moore joked and said that if she could tell Obama one thing, it would be to come back next year, same place, same time. Obama’s surprises didn’t stop at the photobomb. He later saw the photo on Instagram and commented, “Preston and Belle, I hope you enjoyed peak bloom! My bad for stepping into the shot.”

He went on to share the photo on his foundation’s Instagram page.
