Bow Wow had a familiar visitor while co-hosting the red carpet at the 2025 BET Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 9.
His daughter, Shai Moss, 14, joined her father briefly during his red carpet correspondent duties. Bow Wow asked his daughter to help him cut to commercial break. “You want to say, ‘This is BET and we’ll be back?,’” he asked the budding influencer. “Matter fact, do it how your dad would do it,” he added while dressed in a white button-up shirt and black pants.
She playfully declined, “No, I’ll just do it how I would do it, because I’m the queen here.”

While viewers at home enjoyed the playful banter, some couldn’t help but to mention Shai’s dress choice. The BET Instagram post of the father-daughter duo received over 7,000 comments of mixed reactions. Many voiced that her all-black outfit which featured a hip cutout, looked too mature for her age.
“Wrong outfit for a kid of 14 years old!” one faultfinder exclaimed. Likewise, another critical comment read, “This outfit [is too] damn grown.”
One person quipped, “Why her lil hip bone out?!!!”
One Instagram viewer defended Shai writing, “Everyone is hating on her outfit. But I just love their father-daughter bond.” She continued, “Some of you have specks in your eyes judging people you do not know like this.”
Bow Wow praised his daughter Shai’s red carpet look, calling her “beautiful”.
Shai, who turned 14 on April 27, celebrated her milestone birthday in a big way during the final night of the Millennium Tour at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
She enjoyed a birthday party backstage joined by her dad, mom Joie Chavis, grandmother Teresa Caldwell, and celebrity guests including Chris Brown and Ray J.
