Britney Spears Arrested For DUI, Taken To Hospital

Superstar Britney Spears was taken to a hospital after being arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

The 44-year old retired singer was arrested on Wednesday (March 4) for a DUI offense in California, per TMZ. The following day, Spears had her blood drawn to determine her blood alcohol content.

The outlet noted that the singer has been “telling people [her BAC] was .06.”

Though the legal limit in California is .08 percent, individuals can be charged with driving under the influence if seen operating a vehicle erratically.

Spears was booked at 3:02 a.m. the following morning and released at 6:07 a.m on March 5.  The arrest is noted as a “cite and release” and has no probation listed, with the Grammy winner’s next court date listed as May 4.

Britney Spears’ team released a statement

Spears’ representative immediately shared a statement, where they call this “completely inexcusable” and “unfortunate,” per PEOPLE.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” the rep shared with the outlet.

“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being,” the statement continued.

The arrest arrives months after Spears sold her entire music catalog to publisher Primary Wave for around $200 million.

Britney is mom to sons Jayden James, 19 and Sean Preston, 20.
