Houston rapper Bun B is his honoring his wife Angela “Queenie” Walls for beating breast cancer.
On Tuesday (Feb 19), the UnderGround Kingz, rapper shared a heartfelt video of his wife ringing the cancer bell after her doctor confirmed she was cancer-free.
“She’s been my best friend, wife, partner, lover, business partner and more. But today, she’s my hero,” the 52 year-old wrote. “Last June my wife Queenie went in for her yearly checkup and was told she had stage 2 breast cancer.”
In the post, Bun shared that his wife of 20 years, started chemotherapy in July and completed treatment in December. He praised her for fighting the deadly disease without any “self-doubt or pity.”
“She fought like a champ for our family and for herself,” he continued. “No self doubt or pity. She stood tall on faith and fought through pain, poison, exhaustion, neuropathy and more daily and attended all family events even when she was in serious pain & discomfort but she still didn’t complain. She had her surgery the first week of January and today we are proud to say she’s cancer free!”
“I implore everyone to please get your health checked yearly and consistently because in cases of cancer and other illnesses early detection can be the difference between life and death,” he added. “Now let’s give it up one time for a cancer free Queenie!”
Bun and Walls, have been widely heralded as Houston’s most trill couple. The two married in 2003 and share two children, from Walls’ previous relationship. Bun has frequently spoken about his love for his wife, and said that being married to her is “bliss.”
In a 2010 interview, Bun said, “I met my wife when I wasn’t necessarily making a lot of money, and my wife is not a big fan of fame. I didn’t marry someone who craves the spotlight.” He continuted, “Almost every time my wife comes somewhere it’s an argument, because she wants to stay home and I just want her to see some of these nicer things I get to experience. We take first class flights, stay in five star hotels, stay in big suites and walk red carpets, see famous people and take all of these pictures… and my wife’s not really about all of that kind of stuff.”
The couple celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows in 2023.
