Cardi B pled not guilty to attempted assault in the 2nd degree inside New York’s Queens County Criminal Court yesterday (June 25) after being indicted on 12 counts, including two felonies, by a grand jury.
Cardi was charged for allegedly attacking two bartender sisters during a strip club brawl at Angels NYC last summer.
The Bardi Gang leader was in the courtroom for approximately 30 minutes and entered her plea saying, “Not guilty, sir, honor.” The judge asked if she wanted her charges read aloud, but Cardi declined. However, she, and two others – Tawana Jackson-Morel and Jeffrey Bush – are facing misdemeanor reckless endangerment, criminal solicitation, conspiracy, harassment, and assault, as well as two counts of felony attempted assault with intent to cause serious physical injury, reports NBC News.
The prosecution claims the Grammy Awards winner coordinated the attack via social media – which platform is not specified.
A member of Cardi’s legal team made a statement following yesterday proceedings.
“I know Cardi on a personal level. I know Cardi as a wife; as a mother; as a daughter; as a sister. I know Cardi B to be a decent and kind human being, which is why I’ve joined this defense team. Mr. Kern, the rest of the defense team, and most importantly, our client, know that through this system, ultimately there will be a positive outcome.”
