In a significant development during Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex-trafficking and racketeering trial, singer Cassie Ventura disclosed that she received a $20 million settlement from Combs in 2023. This revelation came during her testimony in Manhattan federal court, shedding light on the previously undisclosed terms of their civil agreement.
Ventura filed the lawsuit on November 16, 2023, alleging rape, physical abuse, and coercion into participating in sex acts with male prostitutes, which Combs allegedly watched. The settlement was reached just one day after the filing. During her testimony, Ventura detailed disturbing aspects of their relationship from 2005 to 2018, including violent physical abuse and coerced involvement in drug-fueled sex parties known as “Freak-Offs.”
Allegations of Abuse and Coercion
Ventura described multiple incidents of severe physical abuse, including a 2016 hotel assault where Combs allegedly threw a vase at her. She also testified about being sent to a plastic surgeon in 2013 after Combs violently injured her. Ventura stated that Combs threatened to release explicit videos to control her and described long-term emotional and physical trauma, including suicidal thoughts and opioid addiction.
In response to the lawsuit, Combs’ attorney Ben Brafman stated, “Mr. Combs’ decision to settle the lawsuit does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims.” Combs himself commented, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”
Despite the settlement, Ventura chose to testify in the ongoing criminal trial to confront the truth and end her silence. Combs has pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains jailed during the trial, which is expected to last up to two months. He also faces multiple civil lawsuits for alleged sexual abuse, all of which he denies.
The trial continues with further cross-examination of Ventura and testimonies from other alleged victims.
