Chris Brown took to Instagram recently to address ongoing comparisons that pit him against music icons such as Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, and Usher.

Chris Brown Speaks Out

In a heartfelt Instagram Story, Brown emphasized that each artist “is the best superstar in lanes of their own.” He continued: “I’ll never say I’ma better anything. I’m just being the best Chris Brown.” His tone was not boastful. Instead, it was clarifying. He added that debates about who is superior distract from artistry. “Back in the day music was individuality,” he wrote. “We were able to be inspired by all the artists from the past because they were the best versions of their creativity without debates on who’s better.”

Brown paid tribute to his influences while drawing firm boundaries. He acknowledged his creative debt: “In some way shape or form these artists have influenced me to go hard and never give up. I just want to be recognized for helping people with my gifts.”

When the discussion turned to Michael Jackson comparisons, Brown firmly placed MJ at the summit. “Michael Jackson will forever be the GOAT and that’s not even arguable,” he proclaimed.

He concluded by expressing hope for future generations. He believes that “hopefully what we have accomplished individually will spark the minds and hearts of the next generations after us. We have an obligation to keep this art form alive.”
