Chris Rock has finally spoken out about being slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars.
During his stand-up show Only Headliners, co-headlined with Kevin Hart, Rock made a joke about the four-month-old slap when he was talking about ‘cancel culture.’
“Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face,” the comedian said. This is the first time that he has spoken out about the incident after revealing that he was not going to press charges against Smith.
Just days after the now infamous slap, Rock’s show sold out and he received a standing ovation upon arriving at the show.
At the time of the slapping incident, Rock started his show with, “How was your weekend?”, jokingly winking at the audience.
He continued, “I don’t have a bunch of sh*t about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend. I’m still kind of processing what happened. Som at some point I’ll talk about that sh*t. And it will be serious and funny.”
Since slapping Chris Rock, Will Smith has laid low and remained out of the spotlight. He’s also banned from the Oscars for the next 10 years as a result of his actions.
