Colman Domingo is getting ready to receive a huge honor.
The actor will accept the inaugural Chadwick Boseman Vanguard Award at the 2024 Black Reel Awards. This award show highlights and celebrates the cinematic achievements of the African diaspora in the global entertainment industry as reports state.
Domingo, who is a two-time Black Reel Award winner will receive this award for his roles in Rustin and The Color Purple. Although the Vanguard Award was first awarded in 2004, it was named after the late actor as a way to “immortalize both the recipient and memory of one the most prolific actors of the African American community.”
Tim Gordon, the founder and CEO of the Black Reel Award said in a statement, “I am pleased to salute the lifelong accomplishments of our 2024 honorees. However, I am most proud that our organization has taken the opportunity to honor the legacy left behind by a talent that seemed to be overlooked by others, Chadwick Boseman. The inclusion of his name along with the introduction of the Diahann Carroll Award gives me great joy.”
The Black Reel Award will air on January 16th. Congratulations to Colman Domingo.
