Colman Domingo is breaking his silence about Paris Jackon criticism of the Michael Jackson biopic.

Speaking with WSJ Magazine, Domingo would love for Paris to someday enjoy the film.

“I hope that she eventually loves the tribute that we made about her father,” Domingo said.

Playing the role of Joe Jackson, the family’s patriarch, Domingo spoke about how he zeroed in on the character.

“For me, it was about finding his humanity,” Domingo said, “He created some of the most iconic artists that have ever walked this earth. What goes into the making of that man?”

Domingo also shared how he approached the role with accusations of  Joe Jackson being abusive to his children.

“I will say that he chastised his children,” he said. “It’s always going to be arguable what’s right and a great method.”

Back in September, Paris called out Domingo for suggesting that she helped him throughout the filmmaking process in PEOPLE.

PARIS’ THOUGHTS ON THE FILM

“I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest. And it didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it I moved on with my life,” Jackson wrote in an Instagram Story. “Not my monkeys, not my circus. God bless and godspeed.”

“The thing about these biopics is, it’s Hollywood. It’s fantasyland. It’s not real. But it’s sold to you as real,” she said. “The narrative is being controlled. And there’s a lot of inaccuracy and there’s a lot of just full-blown lies. At the end of the day, that doesn’t really fly with me.”

Domingo also said that his words were “conflated” and “taken out of context.”

Despite Paris’ objections, Michael has been endorsed by the  Jackson estate

Antionie Fuqua, the director of the film, said that Domingo morphed into the character so much that it  “scared the s– out of” him.

The film opens in theaters on April 24.
