Sasheer Zamata has officially embraced her sexuality.
In a recent interview, the “Saturday Night Live,” alum jokingly revealed that she is “one of those late-in-life lesbians” while coming out as gay. She also said that she would often be cast in queer roles before she truly knew who she was.
Zamata also expressed that she now feels comfortable and confident in her life and that she was compelled to embrace who she was to stop her from being silenced. “It felt like if I didn’t say anything, I’d be ignoring a part of me, and that doesn’t feel very good,” she said. “I’ve definitely had thoughts of, not necessarily keeping it a secret, but that there’s no need to say anything about it.”
She went on to talk about her latest role in the upcoming Disney+ movie, “Agatha All Along,” starring Kathryn Hahn, and how she loves the character that she is playing. “It felt nice to be able to portray a character who has been an outcast for a lot of her life.”
Her new movie will premiere on the streaming platform on September 18.
