Acclaimed actor Courtney B. Vance received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday in a heartfelt ceremony that celebrated his four-decade career and personal legacy. The trailblazing performer was honored with the 2,831st star, placed at 7007 Hollywood Boulevard in the television category.

Vance, 65, was joined at the ceremony by his wife, actress Angela Bassett, and their 19-year-old twins, Bronwyn and Slater. Speaker after speaker praised his enduring contribution to film, theater and television.

“Courtney’s work has inspired generations,” said the Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, Ana Martinez, during the event. “He has left a lasting impact as an artist, advocate and mentor.”

Family Reflections at the Ceremony

In warm and emotional speeches, Vance’s children shared personal testimonials about their father’s influence. Slater described Vance as a model of compassion and resilience, saying his father taught him to be “like water — adaptable yet grounded.”

Bronwyn spoke of his unwavering support, recalling the prayer rituals they shared at night. “He is the greatest man I know,” she said, her voice steady with pride.

Bassett, herself a celebrated actor with a star just across the street, said her husband’s integrity and grace defined both his career and personal life. “Your talent is matched only by your heart,” she told him, drawing applause from the crowd.

“Angela has always shaped the best parts of me,” Vance later said, visibly moved by her remarks and those of their children.

Vance’s expansive career spans stage, screen and television. His acclaimed portrayal of attorney Johnnie Cochran in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story earned critical praise and awards. He also won accolades for his work in Lovecraft Country and on Broadway in Lucky Guy.

His body of work includes notable roles in The Hunt for Red October, Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Disney+, and his narration of culturally significant audiobooks. He has earned two Emmy Awards, a Tony, a Critics’ Choice Award and multiple NAACP Image Awards.

The Walk of Fame honor solidifies recognition not only of Vance’s artistic achievements but also of his influence as a mentor and storyteller. “This moment makes it official,” said one supporter during the event.
