Singer D4vd has a high chance of being indicted in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose dismembered remains were found in the trunk of a Tesla registered to the singer, per TMZ.
Prosecutors are reportedly presenting evidence and witness testimony to support that position. As the outlet reports, sources familiar with the matter said “the grand jury that’s hearing the case will be asked to hand down an indictment.”
“Multiple sources tell TMZ that authorities, including prosecutor Beth Silverman, believe D4vd was involved in the death of [Rivas Hernandez],” TMZ reported.
Sources also indicate there has been discussion that the grand jury may continue hearing witnesses into February. If that occurs, an indictment would not be issued immediately.
Police discovered Rivas Hernandez’s remains inside the boot of the impounded Tesla on September 8, after responding to reports of a foul odor at a Hollywood tow yard.
Rivas Hernandez, had been missing and was last seen in April 2024, according to a missing person flyer.
The car, registered to D4vd, had been towed from the Hollywood Hills neighborhood five days after it had been abandoned.
D4vd, 20, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, released his debut album in April and was on tour when the remains were discovered.
He ended up canceling the rest of his tour after fallout from the incident, and although some consider him as being “viewed” as a suspect, neither he nor anyone else has been formally arrested or charged in the four months since the body was first found.
