D4vd was named a potential suspect in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
According to E! News, the Los Angeles Police Department claimed that D4vd “has not been cooperative during the investigation.” Law enforcement also believes that Rivas Hernandez’s death occurred in the spring, and D4vd (real name David Anthony Burke) discarded her body.
“I can neither confirm nor deny the claims in that TMZ report. It remains an ongoing investigation by LAPD detectives,” stated Captain Mike Bland of the LAPD Media Relations to Complex.
D4vd has not been charged or arrested in connection with Hernandez’s death.. A rep for D4vd told NBC News that he was “fully cooperating with the authorities.”
D4vd has not addressed the situation publicly, but he did make some transactions after the case was opened in September. He transferred ownership of two homes he owns in Houston, Texas, to his mother, according to TMZ.
On September 8, 2025, Hernandez’s body was found in the front trunk of a black Tesla in a Los Angeles tow yard. The car was towed after being abandoned and receiving parking citations in the Hollywood Hills.
Hernandez had been reported missing in 2024. Sources have suggested an unverified connection between the D4vd and Hernandez, including alleged Discord chats and matching “Shhh…” tattoos. Rivas’s mother reportedly told investigators her daughter had been involved with someone named David.
Hernandez’s body was found in an advanced state of decomposition and was dismembered.
At the time of her discovery, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner released a statement about the case,
“The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of Ms. Rivas Hernandez’s death. As such, it remains unclear whether there is any criminal culpability beyond the concealment of her body,” the statement read. “RHD is thoroughly examining every aspect of this case to uncover the truth and seek justice for Celeste Rivas Hernandez and her family.”
