Damon Dash has filed a $300 million defamation lawsuit against rapper Cam’ron, alleging the Harlem artist made false statements that damaged Dash’s businesses and personal reputation. The suit, filed by Dash, his partner Raquel Horn, and The Dash Group, accuses Cam’ron of defamation, business disparagement, tortious interference, unjust enrichment, conspiracy, and harassment.
According to a demand letter circulated on social media through Dash’s Dusko Poppington brand, the claims stem from a series of remarks and actions attributed to Cam’ron. The letter states that Cam’ron publicly disparaged both Dash and Horn, undermined The Dash Group’s credibility, and attempted to exclude Dash from a cannabis venture he helped establish.
It also alleges that Cam’ron improperly acquired ownership stakes in the Dip Set Clothing Company, a business Dash co-founded, and revealed confidential discussions with Roc-A-Fella Records that damaged Dash’s professional relationship with Jay-Z.
Damon Dash Sues Cam’Ron For Defamation
Dash is seeking damages for reputational harm, emotional distress, and lost business opportunities. His legal team is demanding Cam’ron remove social media posts, issue a public apology, and cease further public statements about Dash.
The filing also seeks to compel Cam’ron to provide Dash with ownership rights in the Dip Set Clothing Company and the G5/Pink Mink cannabis business, along with a full accounting of profits and preservation of related communications and business records.
The lawsuit highlights the deterioration of a once-close business relationship. Dash and Cam’ron, both key figures in Harlem’s music and fashion landscape, collaborated on ventures that connected hip-hop with streetwear and lifestyle brands. Their partnership, however, has unraveled over time, leading to ongoing disputes that have spilled into the public sphere.
The complaint underscores Dash’s broader financial pressures, suggesting he is seeking redress for claims that extend beyond simple reputation management. For Cam’ron, the case raises the question of whether disputes rooted in hip-hop culture can translate into significant legal and financial liability.
With $300 million at stake, the lawsuit represents a significant escalation of the feud. Whether the matter results in damages, settlement, or dismissal, the filing signals that Dash is prepared to pursue his grievances through the courts.
