In a significant legal development, a federal judge has ordered Raquel Horn, the wife of music mogul Damon Dash, to liquidate her business interests to assist in settling Dash’s mounting debts.
Dash, co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, faces over $8 million in liabilities, including unpaid taxes, child support, and judgments from multiple lawsuits.
The court’s decision follows allegations that Dash and Horn co-mingled personal and business assets to shield them from creditors. Attorney Christopher Brown, representing filmmaker Josh Webber, stated, “Mr. Dash has about $10 million in personal debt.”
In November 2024, Dash’s 33.3% stake in Roc-A-Fella Records was auctioned for $1 million, primarily covering back child support and a portion of his tax debt. However, this sale did not satisfy all outstanding obligations.
Webber, who secured an $823,000 judgment against Dash over the film “Dear Frank,” is seeking further compensation. His legal team has requested the seizure of Dash’s remaining assets, including jewelry and intellectual property.
Additionally, author Edwyna Brooks, awarded a $300,000 judgment for copyright infringement, accuses Dash of transferring assets to evade payment. Her lawsuit claims Dash and Horn used their companies “as one entity” to avoid creditors.
Dash has publicly denied wrongdoing, asserting that his investments were meant to build a legacy for his family. “I’ve bought back the majority interest in @rachel_roy… so @ava_dash and @tallulah_dash would have a company to run,” he previously stated.
The court’s mandate for Horn to sell her business stakes underscores the severity of Dash’s financial situation. As legal battles continue, the couple faces increasing pressure to resolve their debts and comply with court orders.
