In a startling development, music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and former film producer Harvey Weinstein have both been accused of sexual assault by the same woman, Crystal McKinney. This revelation has intensified scrutiny on two of the entertainment industry’s most prominent figures.

Dual Allegations Surface

McKinney initially filed a lawsuit against Combs in May 2024, alleging that he drugged and sexually assaulted her. Subsequently, in February 2025, she filed a complaint against Weinstein, which was amended on May 30 to include her identity. These cases are part of ongoing legal actions involving both men, each of whom has faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct in the past.

Combs has vehemently denied the allegations, labeling them as “sickening” and asserting that he will fight to clear his name. Weinstein, whose previous conviction was overturned, is currently undergoing a retrial in Manhattan. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Patterns of Abuse Alleged

Attorney Thomas Giuffra, representing multiple accusers of Combs, drew parallels between the alleged behaviors of Combs and Weinstein. “Whenever you have a serial abuser, they follow a pattern,” Giuffra stated. “Harvey Weinstein had a pattern. Sean Combs has a pattern.”

Giuffra described a recurring scenario in which victims were brought into the orbit of the accused, given a drink, felt woozy, and then woke up to being assaulted. He emphasized that while the stories have differences, the underlying pattern remains consistent.

Weinstein’s legal team refuted the comparison, asserting that no accuser has alleged he drugged women. “To make such a claim is reckless and irresponsible,” a spokesperson stated.

Broader Implications

The dual allegations against Combs and Weinstein underscore ongoing concerns about abuse of power in the entertainment industry. The #MeToo movement, which gained momentum following initial allegations against Weinstein in 2017, has led to increased awareness and accountability. Activist Tarana Burke commented, “This new case is no different than so many that we’ve seen where you have an incredibly powerful and privileged person who decides to abuse it.”

As legal proceedings continue, the cases of Combs and Weinstein serve as reminders of the importance of addressing and preventing sexual misconduct in all industries.
