Diddy is expected to address the court at his sentencing hearing on Friday, October 3rd. It will be the first time he speaks in open court after being convicted of prostitution-related charges.
According to TMZ, Diddy will be presenting his own allocution to the judge, seeking o show how he has changed during his time at the Metropolitan Detention Center. His sentencing will come after a judge denied his request to overturn his conviction.
Teny Geragos, Diddy’s attorney, has already made the request to the court
“The sentencing proceeding holds significant importance for Mr. Combs,” Geragos writes. “He wishes to appear before the Court, address Your Honor, and allocute in the most dignified and respectful fashion possible.”
During sentencing, some of the alleged victims will also have an opportunity to speak about why Diddy doesn’t deserve leniency.
One victim, an anonymous woman who testified under the pseudonym “Mia,” has requested to do so.
“While the jury did not seem to understand or believe that I engaged in freak-offs because of the force and coercion the defendant used against me, I know that is the truth,” it reads in part. “And his sentence should reflect the reality of the evidence and my lived experience as a victim.”
“I am so scared that if he walks free, his first actions will be swift retribution towards me and others who spoke up about his abuse at trial,” it continues. The prosecution recommends a sentence of 11 years and 3 months. The defense is pushing for as little time as possible.
It has not been confirmed that Cassie will appear in court. The prosecution submitted a 164-page memo early this week, which included her statement.
Diddy’s lawyers also asked Judge Arun Subramanian to allow Diddy to wear street clothes, instead of his jail jumpsuit.
