We’re a part of her world— literally.
Disney released the first full-length trailer for the upcoming live-action version of The Little Mermaid. The preview originally debuted during the Oscars ceremony Sunday, and fans have been jumping for joy since.
We first got a glimpse of Halle Bailey as the red-haired mermaid last year and families recorded their children’s pleasant reactions to seeing a Black Ariel. During Sunday’s show, Bailey alongside Melissa McCarthy came to the stage to present the new trailer.
McCarthy plays the villain, Ursula, in the film. Up until Sunday, fans have never gotten a look at the actress in her new role. A previous teaser gave watchers just a glimpse at McCarthy’s dark character. Now, in the new trailer, we get to see more of her portrayal of the movie’s antagonist.
We also get to see more of the other actors in the film. Viewers were able to see Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Awkwafina as the voice of Scuttle.
The trailer showcased clips from some of the movie’s musical numbers, including Part of Your World and Kiss the Girl.
Additionally, we were able to see more of the beautiful CGI creating the underwater world that is Atlantica. We were introduced to an entirely new animated world. From the vibrant blues to the seaweed, one would believe they too, belonged under the sea.
