Former CNN host Don Lemon appeared to be surprised by historically deep blue New Jersey where voters told him that they would be supporting Donald Trump in the election.
Many interviewees highlighted the perceived positive impact of Trump’s policies on their personal finances.
In a video shared on Saturday, Lemon spoke with Atlantic City residents while defending Vice President Kamala Harris, Fox News reports.
One person told him that Harris, who often appears to be drunk during public appearances, wasn’t good for the role.
“Four years ago, it was a lot better. I made a lot more money than I do now,” another person told the former CNN host.
The voter laughed as Lemon pushed back and said, “I know you feel that way, but that’s not actually what the record shows, the economy was better under Biden.”
The voter laughed as Lemon added, “No, I’m serious.”
“Do you watch CNN?” the voter shot back.
One voter Lemon spoke to said he thought Harris would win the election, but said he planned to support Trump, because Harris doesn’t “have any experience.”
Lemon shot back, “she’s the vice president, she’s a senator.”
Another woman echoed similar sentiments, stating, “I know nobody likes him but we had good times with Donald Trump. The economy was good, life was good.”
The interviews reveal a notable level of support for Trump among Atlantic City residents, underscoring ongoing debates about the impact of his presidency on the economy and personal financial well-being
