Drake and Chris Brown have been hit with a massive lawsuit.
According to reports, the two artists are being sued by artists Tykeiya Dore and Marc Stephens for $5 million for copyright infringement for their 2019 hit “No Guidance. ” Their lawsuit claims that the song is similar to their 2016 song, “I Got It,” when it comes to the notes, tempo, and melodic structure.
Dore and Stephens are not only suing Drake and Chris Brown, but they are also suing collaborators including producers Vinylz, Noah “40” Shebib, Teddy Walton, and J-Louis. Songwriters Nija Charles, Michee Lebrun, and Velous are also named in the lawsuit, as well as RCA Records and other publishers associated with the song.
The lawsuit also claims that Dore and Stephens believe that their song, “I Got It,” could have been bigger if it had gone through the same avenues that “No Guidance” went through. They also stated that Stephens’ YouTube channel was “improperly penalized” after they requested to have “No Guidance” to be taken down.
Representatives for Drake and Chris Brown have not responded to this lawsuit. We will keep you posted with updates once it becomes available.
