Drake has once again bridged the gap between music and sports, unveiling a new collaboration with the NFL through his OVO clothing brand. Announced on Instagram on Wednesday, December 11, the “Gridiron Collection” features NFL-themed apparel customized with the signature OVO owl logo.
The collection includes items such as the Sideline Puffer Jacket and Training Pullover Jacket, representing eight NFL teams: the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, and Green Bay Packers. Fans can get their hands on the collection starting Friday, December 13, both online and in stores.
A Timely Launch Amid Rivalry
This collaboration comes at a critical time in the ongoing rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick is slated to headline the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show in February, an event watched by millions worldwide. Speculation about tension between the two escalated after 50 Cent hinted on Talk With Flee that Drake’s legal team might be using lawsuits against Universal Music Group to limit Kendrick’s performance options.
“I’ve never seen a rap battle end in a lawsuit,” 50 Cent commented. He added, “It feels like Drake’s team is trying to protect him from more damage at the Super Bowl.” Kendrick’s performance is highly anticipated, but these legal complications have fueled rumors of behind-the-scenes maneuvering.
Despite the drama, the NFL appears to be playing both sides, collaborating with Drake while spotlighting Kendrick for the Super Bowl. Drake’s OVO has previously ventured into sports collaborations, including partnerships with the NBA, but this latest move feels especially significant given the timing.
A Busy Year for OVO
Drake’s OVO brand has been prolific lately, releasing collaborations beyond the sports world. Notably, OVO teamed up with The Simpsons to produce a colorful collection modeled by Lil Yachty. That range, which included hoodies and varsity jackets, showcased the brand’s versatility and growing influence.
