Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be honored at the 8th American Black Film Festival Honors.
According to Variety, Johnson will receive the prestigious Entertainment Icon Award. The 2026 ABFF Honors will take place on Feb. 16 at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills and is presented by Nice Crowd.
“Dwayne Johnson is the very definition of an entertainment icon,” said Nice Crowds co-CEOs and presidents Jeff Friday and Nicole Friday. “From his trailblazing career in sports entertainment to his extraordinary success in film and television. He has become one of the most influential and beloved figures in global culture. His journey embodies the power of perseverance, authenticity, and charisma. Those values that reflect the spirit of ABFF. We are thrilled to honor him with this year’s Entertainment Icon Award. And to celebrate his incredible contributions to the world of entertainment.”
Johnson has achieved extraordinary film success, transitioning from a wrestling icon into one of the world’s most bankable and highest-grossing actors. His films have collectively earned over $15 billion worldwide, propelled by his charismatic presence in major tentpole franchises. He is widely credited with revitalizing the Fast & Furious series, starting with Fast Five. He’s has led successful family-friendly adventures like the Jumanji sequels and the animated hit Moana. Johnson’s consistent ability to draw massive global audiences to action, comedy, and family films has cemented his status as a major Hollywood box office power.
Johnson’s latest starring role is A24’s The Smashing Machine. Directed by Benny Safdie, Johnson plays MMA fighter Mark Kerr, and his performance has garnered Oscar buzz.
Along with Johnson, Jennifer Hudson will receive the Renaissance Award. Director and executive producer Salli Richardson-Whitfield will receive the Evolution Award. Damson Idris will be recognized with the Horizon Award.
