Dwayne Wade is a proud dad of his eldest daughter.
On Thursday (Sept 25), the NBA legend shared a photo of Zaya Wade, 18, on her first day of college. The photo, posted on his Instagram Story, showed Zaya radiating with a smile wearing a grey cardigan, a pleated shirt, and her signature glasses.
Across the image, he proudly wrote, “First Day of College!” and tagged his daughter’s account.

Stepmother, Gabrielle Union, spoke to People on the 2025 Met Gala carpet about Zaya’s next chapter in college.
“Scared but excited for her,” the actress told People. “[She’s] an astrobiology major. So we can’t help with that. We haven’t been able to help with homework since the fourth grade, but we’re excited for next year.”
Zaya graduated high school in June, where she not only receive her diploma but also took home the “2024-2025 Head of School’s Award.”
At the time, her proud parents wrote on a shared Instragram post, “Zaya, you’ve closed this chapter with such grace and courage. Watching you bloom into the brilliant, bold, and beautiful young woman you are has been a true gift. As you step into this next season, we already know you’ll write it with purpose, passion, and power.
They added, “May college be your canvas — and the world, your masterpiece.”
Zaya and son Zaire, 23, are Wade’s children with ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches. He also is the father to son Xavier from his former relationship with Aja Metoyer. He shares daughter Kaavia, 6, with wife Gabrielle Union while continuing to be the legal guardian of nephew, Dahveon Morris, 21.
