Dwight Howard gains a win in one of his many legal battles.

He was granted temporary full custody of his 13-year-old daughter Layla Howard, after filing the paperwork a few months ago. According to reports, Howard claims that Layla’s mother, Tiffany Render, moved from Georgia to Florida with their daughter without informing him of the move.

He also states that she “failed and refused to provide access to the minor child.” Howard added that Render exploited their daughter by allowing her to be on a reality tv show. Render has denied all claims, however, the retired NBA player asked the court to grant him custody of their daughter and terminate his monthly child support payment of $3,000.

On Tuesday, January 9th, the judge granted Howard’s request and awarded him temporary primary custody. The judge noted in the ruling that “despite the instant proceeding, the minor child is in a good and appropriate headspace.”

The judge also agreed to cancel the monthly child support payments of $3,000, however, he was ordered to pay that same $3,000 for Render’s travel expenses. She was also granted visitation rights and they will both share legal custody of their daughter.

A follow-up hearing will take place in May.
