Dwight Howard’s ex Tiffany Render rushed to court ealier this week to file for temporary custody of their daughter, Layla, after claiming the 15-year-old felt “unsafe” with her father.

Per U.S Weekly, Render filed the emergency custody modification on Monday (March 16) citing concerns for her daughter’s wellbeing.

“Layla was recently admitted to a mental facility after expressing thoughts of harming herself and has repeatedly stated that she feels fearful and emotionally distressed about returning to her father’s home which she believes contributed to her crisis,” Render claimed in the custody modification.

“The situation has also resulted in involvement by the Georgia Division of Family and Children (DFACS),” she claimed.

According to court docs, Render believes that, given her daughter’s mental health situation and the risk to her well-being, it is in Layla’s best interest to live with her until the matter can be reviewed by the court.

She also filed an affidavit signed by Layla that stated her mother had not threatened, encouraged or promised her anything to petition the temporary custody request.

The following day, Tuesday, (March 17), the court denied Render’s emergency order.

“There are neither allegations nor evidence qualifying as emergent,” the response obtained by Us read. “Plaintiff failed to file the controlling custody order she seeks to modify.

The news follows Howard’s recent divorce filing from rapper and estranged wife Amy Luciani. Earlier this month, Luciani made claims during an Instagram Live, alleging he had a drug issue and that Child Protective Services removed his daughter from their home.
