Dwyane Wade is opening up about the dreams he had for his daughter, Zaya Wade and how as she got older, he had to accept what she wanted for her life.

In a conversation on the Club Shay Shay podcast, Wade shared with host, Shannon Sharpe that he had dreams of Zaya growing up to play basketball. Once she came out as transgender at the age of 12, he had to let go of that aspiration for her.

He said that he used to think that fans would get the next generation of all stars from his child and his peers ‘children.

“I have Zaya. LeBron has Bryce. Melo has Kiyan. All within a 2-3 week span,” Wade said. “All our kids gonna grow up hooping together. ‘Oh we on! Boy we gonna have 3 babies! We on!’”

Once Zaya came out as trans he realized her had to let that dream go.

“See what happens when you start making plans for other people’s lives?”

Now, he says he is happy yo see his daughter grow to be the woman she wants to be. “

There’s been a transition for the world, but for us, I see the same kid that I’ve seen since May 29, 2007. Nothing has changed,” he concluded.
