Eric Murphy, son of Eddie Murphy, and Jasmin Lawrence, daughter of Martin Lawrence, have quietly married. The couple, who began dating in 2021, opted for an intimate ceremony, choosing to wed with only a preacher present. Eddie Murphy confirmed the news during a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, stating, “They went off and got married. Just the two of them and a preacher.”

A Private Union

Despite earlier plans for a grand wedding, Eric and Jasmin decided on a more personal approach. The ceremony took place approximately two weeks prior to Murphy’s announcement. Murphy humorously noted that Martin Lawrence is now “off the hook” for the large wedding bill they had previously joked about.

The couple’s relationship became public in 2021, and they announced their engagement in November 2024. The proposal was a romantic affair, set in a candlelit room adorned with rose petals. Jasmin shared the moment on Instagram, writing, “We’re engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny.”

Family Reactions and Future Plans

Both families have expressed joy over the union. Eddie Murphy previously commented on the relationship, saying, “They look amazing together… Our gene pool is gonna make this funny baby.”

Martin Lawrence, speaking on the Big Boy’s Neighborhood podcast, shared that he would cover the wedding expenses, stating, “Eddie said I gotta pay for it ’cause he paid for his last daughter’s wedding… I don’t mind.”

While the wedding was a private affair, Murphy hinted at the possibility of a future celebration. He mentioned the idea of a larger party and even joked about performing a duet with Lawrence.

As the Murphy and Lawrence families come together, fans are excited about the potential for future collaborations between the comedic legends. Murphy has expressed interest in working with Lawrence again, possibly in a remake of the classic film It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, featuring top Black comedians.
