Idris Elba To No Longer Play James Bond

Idris Elba will no longer be playing the role of James Bond.

It has been reported that the actor is looking to pursue other roles although he was flattered by the thought of replacing Daniel Craig as the famous spy. In a recent interview, he said, “He’s put forward names to play 007. He’s ‘informally’ in the decision-making process as he’s been in talks with producers for so long.”

This isn’t the first time that Elba revealed that he wasn’t interested in playing the part of Bond. During the movie premiere for The Harder They Fall he said, “No, I’m not going to be James Bond. I’m probably the most famous Bond actor in the world, and I haven’t even played the role.”

However many people believe that the 49-year-old actor would have been the best replacement for Daniel Craig. “We’ve seen a flurry of interest in Idris Elba and have slashed his odds accordingly, so much so that he’s now the clear favourite as far as we’re concerned to replace Daniel Craig as 007.”

Barbara Broccoli, a James Bond producer spoke on the process that it will take to replace Daniel Craig. “It’s a big decision. It’s not just casting a role. It’s about a whole rethink about where we’re going.”

With Idris Elba out, who do you think should be the next James Bond?
