Janet Jackson has graced the cover of the Essence July/August issue and she has opened up about what’s next for her music.
Fans haven’t gotten an album from the legendary singer for seven years but she is solely focused on being a mother to her son.
“Sometimes things happen that you don’t expect to happen, and you have to figure things out- or you’re in a space in your life when you have to take a step back and take a break for a minute,” Jackson said in her interview with Essence.
She went on to say, “Even though it’s something that I absolutely love, it still is my work, my job. There will be music at some point. Exactly when? I can’t say just yet, but there will be. I love it too much not to do it. This is all I know. There’s so much that I want to do- my number one job is being a mama.”
Jackson welcomed her son, Eissa, who she shares with her ex-husband Wissam Al Mana in 2017.
Janet Jackson will be headlining Essence Festival 2022 in New Orleans next month.
