On Friday, Johnson & Johnson recalled over 33,000 bottles of baby powder after trace amounts of asbestos were found in a single bottle that was purchased online.
According to reports, The New Jersey-based company states that this recall was “limited to one lot of Johnson’s Baby Powder produced and shipped in the U.S. last year.” They also claim that the company’s baby powder does not contain asbestos.
The company said in a statement. “[J&J] has a rigorous testing standard in place to ensure its cosmetic talc is safe and years of testing, including the FDA’s own testing on prior occasions and as recently as last month- found no asbestos.”
The FDA reportedly found small amounts of asbestos in the one bottle and the company is currently investigating to see if the bottle was counterfeit.
