Eric Adams has won a victory! He has been declared the winner of New York City’s Democratic mayoral race.
Reports state that Adams’ win comes after he was holding on to a “razor-thin lead in a pivotal ballot update.” This win puts him a step closer to becoming the second Black mayor in New York City.
Eric Adams states, “The results are clear: a historic, diverse, five-borough coalition led by working-class New Yorkers has led us to victory in the Democratic primary for mayor of New York City.”
He continued, “Now we must focus on winning in November so that we can deliver on the promise of this great city for those who are struggling, who are underserved, and who are committed to a safe, fair, affordable future for all New Yorkers.”
Adams is set to face Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa in November if the results stick.
