Philadelphia-born rapper and actress Eve has sold her music catalog to Iconoclast, marking a major career milestone. The acquisition, valued between $25 million and $50 million, involves many of her most iconic tracks, including “Gangsta Lovin’,” “Let Me Blow Ya Mind,” and “Love is Blind.”
Iconoclast’s founder, Olivier Chastan, praised Eve’s impact on the music industry. “Eve’s contributions to Hip-Hop and popular culture are unparalleled. She’s not only a great artist but a true pioneer for women in the genre,” Chastan stated. “We are honored to help preserve and elevate her incredible legacy, ensuring that her influence continues to inspire future generations of artists and fans alike.”
Eve: A Pioneer in Hip-Hop
Eve’s career took off in 1999 with the release of Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady, which went double platinum and topped the Billboard 200 chart. This achievement made Eve only the third female rapper in history to reach number one on the chart. Her ability to blend fierce lyricism with mainstream appeal set her apart, especially in a male-dominated industry.
She later expanded her influence by venturing into acting, with roles in the Barbershop film series and her own television sitcom, Eve. In addition to her music, Eve’s Grammy-winning collaboration with Gwen Stefani, “Let Me Blow Ya Mind,” remains a fan favorite, cementing her place in pop culture history.
Iconoclast’s Mission
This latest deal aligns with Iconoclast’s mission to preserve the legacies of influential artists. The company, founded in 2021, has been aggressively expanding its catalog, recently acquiring Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc. recordings in a $300 million deal.
Chastan noted that Eve’s catalog is a vital part of their growing portfolio. “We are committed to curating and expanding the legacies of influential artists across diverse entertainment platforms,” he said.
Eve, now with over six million monthly listeners on Spotify, continues to maintain her relevance in the industry while focusing on other ventures, including her recently published memoir Who’s That Girl?.
