As we continue to celebrate 50 years of hip-hop, Fat Joe wanted to bring Will Smith in on the celebration but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.
Fat Joe is set to host the BET Hip-Hop awards and it has been reported that he tried to get the rapper turned actor to hit the stage for the special tribute performance to the beloved genre, however Smith declined.
In a recent interview, the “Lean Back” rapper said, “You know who I didn’t successfully get was Will Smith. I was really trying to get Will Smith to come out and do ‘Summer Time.’” Smith reportedly declined the invitation due to a scheduling conflict. He is currently in the middle of filming the latest installment to the “Bad Boys” franchise.
Joe added, “But we tried. We try to pull off a miracle if we can. We try to pull a cloud out of the sky.”
The BET Hip-Hop Awards will air on Tuesday, October 10th at 9pm. Do you think that it would’ve been cool if Will Smith was a part of the 50 years of Hip-Hop tribute?
