In a swift and measured reply, Gayle King addressed President Trump’s recent social media attack, where he labeled her career “over” and accused her of having “no talent.” Her response was brief but direct: “I’m sorry he feels that way.”

A Calm Retort Amid Public Criticism

The exchange began when Trump, on his platform Truth Social, reposted a New York Post story suggesting internal threats to King’s position at CBS Mornings. He wrote, “Gayle King’s career is over. She should have stayed with her belief in TRUMP. She never had the courage to do so. No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!”

Despite the intensity of Trump’s comments, King maintained her composure. Speaking to TMZ, she said simply, “I like my job,” and reaffirmed her focus: “I’m going to … continue to do a good job.”

Joining an Unwanted Roster

In a bit of dry humor, King noted her promotion into the ranks of celebrities recently dissed by Trump. She playfully acknowledged that she’s now mentioned alongside the likes of Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, and Stephen Colbert.

Tensions Beyond the Morning Show

This latest confrontation follows earlier clashes between King and Trump. In 2025, she made headlines criticizing the lack of “people of color” at his inauguration, sparking both backlash and support.

Ratings pressures also loom over CBS Mornings. The show recently trailed behind Good Morning America and Today, drawing around 1.8 million viewers, compared to 2.6 million and 2.3 million, respectively. Meanwhile, CBS recently settled a $16 million lawsuit with Trump over a 60 Minutes interview, clearing the way for its $8 billion merger with Skydance.
