As Gayle King wraps up her exclusive interview series with Jay-Z, she opens up about the time Oprah told her to stop requesting interviews from the hip-hop mogul.
While on the red carpet at the Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix, she talked about having high hopes to one day interview with the Brooklyn-born rapper. “I was really buzzing after, yeah, because you don’t know… You know he doesn’t like to do interviews,” she said.
King continued, “I think that I just groveled that it became embarrassing. Even Oprah said, ‘You are making a damn fool of yourself. Stop asking him. He doesn’t want to do it.’ But I couldn’t let it go.”
The documentary, “Jay-Z and Gayle King: Brooklyn’s Own,” takes a look into the life and career of the rapper. They also explore his exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum called the “Book of HOV, which displays all of the work he has throughout his career and more.
