A month after Gayle King’s insane interview with R. Kelly, the CBS News anchor says the disgraced R&B singer thought their sit-down went well and is open to another one.
King exclusively spoke with Page Six during Variety’s recent Power of Women luncheon last Friday (Apr. 5) admitting she reached out to Kelly’s team after the viral interview.
“I called [his team] the next day because it blew up in such a way, so I just wanted to take their temperature to see how they were feeling.” She continued, “They were really pleased — because they thought people got to see how passionate he was. They got to see his pain, and maybe they got to look at it in a different way.”
When King took the stage to address luncheon attendees, she said, “I think part of the reason R. Kelly got so irritated and angry with me, and with the circumstances that day . . . I think he feels the walls are closing in.”
Despite being the media’s persona non grata, Kelly recently stepped out in Springfield, I.L. this past weekend for a paid club appearance and begged paparazzi and publications to “take it easy” on him. Now it sounds like his next outing may be back on the set of CBS News – headlines coming soon!
