George Floyd’s Family Asks The U.S. To Continue To Fight For Justice During Funeral Service

Earlier today, the final funeral service for George Floyd was held in his hometown of Houston, Texas.

During the service, which was live-streamed for the world to see, he was remembered by many celebrities, elected leaders, activists, family members, and friends. At the service, Floyd’s family eulogized him.

One of Floyd’s brother asked the world to continue to “fight for my brother.” George Floyd was killed by the then-police officer, Derek Chauvin after kneeling on his neck for eight minutes and forty-six seconds.

In honor of George Floyd, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner has declared Tuesday “George ‘Perry’ Day” and has also announced that he will be signing an executive order that will ban police officers from placing chokeholds on people. This order will also require officers to use alternative ways to de-escalate a confrontation.
