Halley Berry’s first husband, David Justice, revealed that their marriage didn’t work out because she wasn’t fulfilling her domestic duties.
During an appearance on Matt Barnes’ All the Smoke podcast on Thursday, Aug. 7, Justice gave his take on what led to his divorce from the Oscar Winner in 1997.
“My knowledge and my understanding, my wisdom around relationships just wasn’t vast,” he said. “So, I’m looking at my mom — and I’m a Midwest guy. So, in my mind, I’m thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, [be] traditional, you know?”
“Then I’m thinking, ‘OK, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?’ ” Justice continued. “At that time, as a young guy — she don’t cook, don’t clean, don’t really seem like motherly, and then we start having issues.”
In the past, Berry has been candid about her past marriages.During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in February, Berry explained that a woman can choose to leave a relationship that is working
“I’ve heard people say, ‘Something must be wrong with Halle Berry, she can’t keep a man.’ Who’s to say I want to keep a man? I don’t want to keep the wrong man, she said. “Like, I’m not crazy, right? So when you find that you make a mistake — we all make mistakes. We have a right to say, ‘Oh God, this was a mistake. Let me start again.’ We have the right to do that.”
Currency, Berry is in a relationship with musician Van Hunt. The two have been a couple since September 2020 —
Recently, she revealed to Today.com that Van Hunt proposed to her, but she “hadn’t quite accepted the ring yet.
