Harrison Barnes of the Sacramento Kings has agreed to help Atatiana Jefferson’s family by paying for the rest of the funeral expenses. Malik Jackson of the Philadelphia Eagles is also helping pay for the funeral expenses.
Barnes, who is forward on the Kings, said that he wanted to give back to the community. “My wife and I wanted to do something for that family. It was a tragic situation that happened. No one should be killed during a wellness check, but the biggest thing is, anytime someone has to go through that, the last thing you want to have to worry about is trying to come up with the money for a funeral.”
Jefferson, 28, was shot and killed by former Fort Worth police officer, Aaron Dean while playing video games with her 8-year-old nephew. Dean resigned from his position and was arrested and charged with murder.
Jefferson’s funeral is set to take place on Saturday, October 19th, 2019.
