Pop singer Harry Styles has been named the new “King of Pop” by Rolling Stone UK in their October/November issue.
Since the cover was posted on social media, many users did not like that the fact that Styles received the new title that belongs to Michael Jackson. One person in particular to respond was Jackson’s own nephew, Taj Jackson.
“There is no new King of Pop. You don’t own the title @RollingStone, and you didn’t earn it, my uncle did,” Taj wrote on his Twitter account. “Decades of dedication and sacrifice. The title has been retired. No disrespect to @Harry_Styles, he’s mega talented. Give him his own unique title.”

This isn’t about Harry Styles, who I actually think is talented. Its about Rolling Stone Magazine & their constant disrespect towards Michael. You can keep trying…but there is only one 👑 King Of Pop 👑 & his name is Mr Michael Joseph Jackson. #KingofPopMichaelJackson pic.twitter.com/r7SgC6bcdd

Absolutely Nicole. I actually really like Harry, but Rolling Stone are seriously delusional calling him the new king of pop.

The title IS retired. They would never try calling someone else the “King of Rock & Roll”
Miss me with this mess. #MichaelJackson is and will always BE #TheKingOfPop.
He ALONE.

This news comes days before what would have been Michael Jackson’s 64th birthday. Do you think that the title “King of Pop” should be retired?
