When Hoda Kotb officially signs off from TODAY, there are many things she will miss. But she won’t miss the early wake-up calls.
During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday, Dec. 18, Kotb said she will not miss waking up at 3:00 a.m.
“No, I will not miss that,” Kotb shared. “Sometimes I push it to 3:15 but it usually goes off at 3:00.”
Another thing she will miss is the dining at the NBC Commissary.
“I’ll tell you something about the NBC Commissary, I love the NBC Commissary,” Kotb explained. “In fact, my kids come to hang out or see me at work, the only thing they ask for is to go up to the ninth floor of the Commissary because it’s got a good spread.”
Kotb also shared that miss doing the show during the holiday season but is anticipating watching from home next year.
“I think so many of those things are beautiful but the last tree lighting that we just had that one sort of weirdly hit me,” she said. “It was like once we did the three, two, one, and the tree lit up, I was thinking to myself, I looked around for a second.”
Meyers also noted that Kotb would not have to drink wine early in the morning.
“Well, now it’s going to have to be evening drinking,” Kotb joked. “The way most people do it.”
In September, Kotb announced she was leaving TODAY. She will remain affiliated with NBC.
“I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new,” she said. “I remembered standing outside looking at these beautiful bunch of people with these gorgeous signs, and I thought, ‘This is what the top of the wave feels like for me.’ And I thought it can’t get better, and I decided that this is the right time for me to kind of move on.”
