Beloved actress Catherine O’Hara has died at the age of 71, her manager confirmed Friday.

O’Hara first became a household name as the mom, Kate McCallister, in the classic Home Alone films, starring opposite Macaulay Culkin. Culkin took to Instagram with a heartfelt tribute.
“Mama. I thought we had more time,” he began. “I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you. But I had so much to say. I love you. I’ll see you later,” he captioned with a photo of the two at his Hollywood Walk of Fame induction.
O’Hara’s Career

O’Hara’s career skyrocketed in comedy, with standout work on the Canadian sketch show Second City Television (SCTV). She later starred in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice, where she played the Delia Deetz. The role would not only cement her as a pop-culture staple, but it is where she would meet her husband, production designer Bo Welch. Welch and O’Hara tied the knot in 1992, and have two sons, Matthew and Luke.
Most recently, O’Hara earned new generations of fans for her acclaimed portrayal of Moira Rose on Schitt’s Creek, a role that garnered her a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe in 2020. The Canadian actress was also nominated for an Emmy and Golden Globe for her role in Seth Rogan’s, The Studio.
